Train derailed after wild boars run over

LERIDA – A train was derailed after it ran over two wild boars on a major route through Catalonia, it was reported Tuesday.

The accident happened last Sunday on the line between Lerida and Poble de Segur.

The train hit two wild boars which were on the track and crashed, causing severe damage to the carriage but no injuries.

The rail company was forced to put coaches on for the passengers to complete their journeys between the towns of Ager and Cellers.

RENFE, the Spanish national rail operators, said Tuesday that a limited services had been restored on the route between the two towns.

It also added that full services on the route should be operational later the same day.
