MADRID -- The government is finalising a prostitution action plan with measures that include the following points.

A month of reflection
To convince foreign, undocumented prostitutes to report their exploiters to the police, the plan guarantees their safety and legal protection. These women will also receive financial assistance. Foreign-born women who do not report on their bosses will be returned to their home countries.

Police training
Officers will receive better training on issues relating to prostitution.

Awareness campaigns
There will be campaigns to increase awareness of sex trafficking.

The government will cooperate with the home countries of women involved in the sex trade to prevent more women from becoming victims of sex trafficking. The government will also work with related associations.

The plan must be approved before the end of 2008 and will cover a three-year period.
