Glenn Close, one of Hollywood's most feted actresses, will receive a lifetime achievement award at next month's film festival in San Sebastian in northern Spain, organisers said Friday.

Close will also attend the festival to present her latest film, "Albert Nobbs," set in 19th century Ireland, in which she plays a woman who disguises herself as a man to get a job in a hotel.

Close, 64, best known for her film roles in "Fatal Attraction" and "Dangerous Liaisons", is currently the star of the US television drama series "Damages".

She will receive the festival's Donostia Award for her film career on September 18.

The Donostia Award has been given out each year at the festival since 1986 to "a great film personality in recognition for their work and career."

Past recipients include Gregory Peck, Bette Davis, Susan Sarandon, Meryl Streep, Richard Gere and Woody Allen. Last year's winner was Julia Roberts.

The 59th edition of the San Sebastian festival, the oldest and most prestigious in the Spanish-speaking world, takes place from September 16 to 24 in the coastal city in northern Spain.
