ISF International Daycare to open new crèche in Tervuren-Vossem in March 2017

Following decorative renovations to convert the building to ISF crèche standards and upon the licensure and approval from the Flemish government agency Kind en Gezin, the latest ISF Daycare facility will launch in 2017 with space for over 50 children ages six weeks to three years.

Rianne Vandersteegen, manager of ISF International Daycare, has owned and operated Belgian day care centres since 2005, including two ISF joint venture crèches in Antwerp, which currently look after over 75 children.

“We are really excited by the potential of our new day care project in Vossem, which we expect to launch in early 2017 following Kind en Gezin approval,” said Vandersteegen. “Our crèche will operate according to our established ‘smart development’ model, with multiple language choices—English, French, Dutch—as well as scientifically proven visually stimulating designs and interactive play techniques.”

The building for the new ISF Daycare is adjacent to St Paul’s Primary School and opposite the Vossem Basisschool. The Tervuren-Vossem area is a favoured location for highly educated and internationally focused professionals who commute into Brussels or Leuven or work near the airport.

According to research by ISF, the area has a shortage of around 150 spots for children in day care centres. ISF looks forward to welcoming the children of local Flemish and international working parents alike. Situated less than a 20-minute drive from Leuven, the new ISF Daycare facility in Vossem will also be of great value to internationally relocated researchers and scientists based at IMEC, KU Leuven and UZ Leuven.

Kevan Keegan, board chair of ISF International Daycare, added, “This is an ideal opportunity for us to help meet the shortage of high-quality day care places in the high-tech and globally focused heart of Flemish Brabant, while continuing to demonstrate the pioneering ISF approach to early-years learning and development, and which complements our highly successful transformation of ISF Waterloo International School as Belgium’s first accredited Google School.”

ISF International Daycare is the first of its kind, being committed to creating a physical environment that promotes engagement and mental wellbeing in infants and children. To this end, the crèche has been designed by Spacious-Minds studio, a joint venture that combines the expertise of Dr Karen Dobkins, professor of child development (University of California, San Diego), and Dutch designer Roy Verbakel, who trained at the Design Academy Eindhoven.
