Dutch unemployment up

Official figures show unemployment in the Netherlands rose by about 8,000 in August, bringing the jobless total to around 421,000. Statistics Netherlands CBS says 5.4 percent of the Dutch workforce is currently without a job.

August was the second month in a row to display an increase in unemployment. On average, around 25,000 more people are without work at the moment than during the first six months of 2011.
