World MeYouZik Festival: Saturday 2 July 2011

Every year, the festival offers an avalanche of 10 free world music concerts on two stages. The big Lion Stage on Place Guillaume II hosts international headliners whereas the smaller Holy Ghost Stage in the Rue du St Esprit is dedicated to electronic world music and DJ’s. As part of the festival, the culinary and informative MeYouVillage presents institutions and NGO’s that are active in development aid projects.

As a world music festival, MeYouZik stands for multiculturality, openness and tolerance, and mirrors Luxembourg City’s demographic composition, with 65 percent of its citizens being non-Luxembourgers and belonging to 170 different nationalities.

The festival MeYouZik takes place on Saturday, the eve of the rock festival "Rock um Knuedler" that takes over on Sunday (3 July 2011) on the same Place Guillaume II. By grouping the two festivals on a weekend and offering two days of free music, the Luxembourg City Tourist Office actively promotes Luxembourg city as a vibrant cultural destination, enhances its reputation on an international level and attracts every year thousands of enthusiastic visitors.

The festival MeYouZik in Luxembourg was created in 2007 when Luxembourg and the Greater Region were "European Capital of Culture". The festival was so successful that it has been repeated over the years, and it occupies its own place in the urban festival culture of the Luxembourgish capital city. Since 2008, the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) has been the official organiser.
