Boy, five, loses arm in bus crash

MADRID — A five-year-old boy lost an arm and suffered other serious injuries when a school bus overturned in Madrid Thursday.

Seven other children were also injured in the accident in Pozuelo de Alarcón, in a part of the capital.

They suffered bruises and shock but their injuries were not said to be serious.

The five-year-old had to have his armed amputated.

Doctors said it would have been impossible to reattach the boy’s arm.

Seventeen children aged between five and ten were travelling in the bus when the crash happened.

The driver was also injured in the crash which happened at about 9.15am when the bus overturned.

The cause of the crash was being investigated.

The children were being taken to a country club to spend part of the day when the crash happened.
