MADRID- Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has arrived in Spain for talks with Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.

Spanish government sources said both leaders would discuss a wide range of issues, including the situation in the Middle East and Iraq, as well as Sudan, Western Sahara and the war on terrorism.

Mubarak arrived from the Egyptian Red Sea resort Sharm El-Cheikh, where he had been hosting a two-day conference on Iraq.

Accompanying the Egyptian leader were Finance Minister Youssef Boutros-Ghali and Information Minister Mamduh el Beltagui.

Spanish Foreign Minister and former EU envoy to the Middle East Miguel Angel Moratinos, Defence Minister Jose Bono and Finance Minister Pedro Solbes were to attend Wednesday’s talks.

Mubarak and Zapatero were to hold further talks in private Wednesday at the Spanish leader’s Moncloa palace office where they were to discuss the outcome of the Sharm el-Cheikh conference and Madrid’s proposal to foster an “alliance of civilisations” to counter terrorism.
