Woman dies in park explosion
26 January 2004
BARCELONA – A woman died in an explosion Monday in a shop she rented in a park near Barcelona.
The explosion happened at midday in Sant Boi de Llobregat.
According to the Fire Brigade, it is unclear what caused the explosion.
The police do not think that it could have started because of the installation of natural gas. The explosion caused a fire which had to be put out.
The explosion killed a 43-year-old woman, one of the proprietors of the shop, whose identity was not released at this stage.
No one else was injured in the blast.
The Fire Brigade sent a team of psychologists to offer help to the family of the woman who died.
The police have launched an investigation into the explosion but have rejected the theory that it was caused by the installation of natural gas.
