What’s on in Spain: December 2008

ART: Madrid’s Prado Museum stages an exhibition entitled "Rembrandt, History Painter", made up of 35 paintings and five prints on historical themes from the 17th century Dutch master. Until 6 January.

SCULPTURE: Madrid’s Prado Museum shows about 60 sculptures lent by the Albertinum Museum in Dresden, Germany, in an exhibition entitled "Among Gods and Men." Until 12 April.

PHOTOGRAPHY: Madrid’s Circulo de Bellas Artes stages an exhibition entitled "Graffiti Brassai," composed of about 60 pictures taken of graffiti on walls in Paris in the 1930s and 1950s. The photographs, often taken at night using reflected light, inspired a number of modern artists, including Pablo Picasso. Until 25 January.

HISTORY: "Recovery of the Classical Artefacts of Andalucia" at the Hospital of the Venerable in southern Seville shows about 150 Roman artefacts on loan from museums such as Madrid’s Prado and New York’s Metropolitan. Until 28 February.
