SónarKids Barcelona 2011
The children’s version of the popular Sónar festival returns to the CCCB this Sunday. Sónar, the international Advanced Music and Multimedia festival, is now in its 18th year and has attracted a line-up of 120 homegrown and international acts this year. SónarKids third year at the CCCB will be held as a one-day event. Parents and children can enjoy the vibe of a real musical festival and take part in a range of creative experiences.
Barcelona Bike Show
The annual La Setmana de la Bici this week ends on Sunday 19 June with a mass cycle and skate session through the city streets. The event promotes the use of bicycles in Barcelona and includes free bike lending, cycle repair and cycling lessons. The weekend also features the 2-day Barcelona Bike Show held at the Parc del Fòrum.
Kids’ theatre in English!
Stone Soup, a Look Out! Theatre Company production in English is on stage this Sunday. Suitable for ages 3 to 7 years, the production features the Little Red Hen, the Big Bad Wolf, classic music, songs and audience participation.
Street Party on Parallel
Barcelona’s Parallel Avenue is celebrating its colourful history and exciting future with an all-day street party! Recently the Avenue has seen the re-opening of the Molino theatre, the inauguration of the new Arteria theatre and the reconstruction of the Arenas bull-ring into a uniquely-designed shopping centre. Fem Festa – Fem Paral-lel on the Avenue will feature live music acts, children’s entertainment, theatre and dance and local theatres will be opening their doors to the public.
Free Ride to Vall de Núria
The Railway Museum of Vilanova de Geltriu is offering free return tickets on the Cremallera de Núria train. The tickets which are valid until November this year, are offered along with admission to the museum. The Railway Museum itself offers a nice option for an outing with the kids.
Science Festival in the Park
If your kids think science cannot be fun, then the annual Festa de la Ciència in the Parc de la Ciutadella may well prove them wrong. The event, held this weekend, is organised by the Natural Sciences Museum and includes workshops, demonstrations, art installations, talks and children’s entertainment.
