MADRID – The managing director of budget carrier Clickair, Alejandro Cruz, has hinted at a possible merger with rival Vueling, arguing that a tie-up between the two low-cost airlines would be "easy and logical."
Faced with higher fuel costs, increasing competition and tighter profit margins, Cruz said in an interview with official news agency Efe "that something has to give" in the Spanish airline industry. "Shareholders [of Clickair and Vueling] are talking, but if something is getting cooked up it is too early to say," Cruz said.
