Madrid – After enduring criticism over the chain of recent Spanish railways problems, Public Works Minister Magdalena Álvarez oversaw a positive development Thursday as she traveled on the inaugural voyage of a new high-speed link connecting Madrid with Segovia and Valladolid.
The service, which is due to start carrying passengers from December 22, will link the capital with Segovia in less than 30 minutes and with Valladolid in 55 minutes on trains traveling at 300-kilometers per hour. Álvarez did not say when the Madrid-Barcelona high-speed link will go into operation in the wake of recent construction problems and delays.
