SEVILLA – Valencia have clinched their sixth Spanish football title by defeating Sevilla 2-0.

Although two weeks remain in the season, no other team can catch up.

The defeats on Saturday of Real Madrid by Mallorca (3-2) and Barcelona by Celta (1-0) left the way clear for Valencia, with a six-point advantage in the rankings over the Madrid club, who have one more than the Catalonian squad.

This is the sixth title for Valencia, which could crown its season with a victory in the UEFA Cup final on 19 May in Gothenburg, Sweden, against Marseilles Olympique.
