US party politics in Madrid

30 January 2008

MADRID-   The Madrid Chapter of Democrats Abroad will hold its first ever Global
Primary party on February 5. Registered Democrats will be able to vote “live” by ballot or online in conjunction with the Super Tuesday primaries in the United States.

Democrats Abroad, which represents US citizens living in more than 100 countries, will count as a state committee within the Democratic Party and send its own delegation to the party convention in August.

US citizens over the age of 18 and living permanently or temporarily in
Spain can cast a ballot to vote for a Democratic Party presidential candidate on Super Tuesday.

Members and non-members with a passport or any major photo ID will be able to sign up on the spot and vote in person directly from Madrid. Registration and any vote in the primaries won’t affect absentee ballot registration in one’s home US state for the 4 November general election.
