BARCELONA – Two women have died in the same plastic surgery clinic in Barcelona in a week, authorities said on Friday.
One woman, 44, died on Thursday at the Clinica Evangelica.
Another 33-year-old woman from Castellon, died on Monday.
The elder woman underwent an operation to reduce stomach fat.
After being discharged, she collapsed on her way of out the clinic.
She received immediate medical help but did not recover.
The clinic has opened an investigation.
On Monday, the other woman died from an thromboembulism after undergoing an operation.
The clinic’s medical director, Samuel Fabra, said the post-mortem showed no negligence and said the death was a result of the normal risks which surgery can carry on rare occasions.
The health authorities have an opened an investigation into the clinic.
