Two Spanish tourists were killed and a third seriously injured Wednesday in a head-on collision on a highway in southeastern Peru.
“The accident happened because one of the vehicles crossed into the other lane producing the strong impact,” a police spokesman from the nearby city of Juliaca told AFP.
Identified as Jose Antonio Pacheco and Ana Maria Carvalho Cedillo, the Spaniards were aboard an all-terrain vehicle traveling from Arequipa, Peru’s second most populous city, to Puno on the border with Bolivia.
