MADRID – Troubled Spanish Liga club Zaragoza announced the sacking of coach Victor Fernandez late Sunday.

The announcement came just four hours after a disappointing 2-2 draw at home to Mallorca – their ninth game without a win – which leaves Zaragoza in 12th place in La Liga.

Fernandez, 47, was in his second spell at Zaragoza, whom he guided to Cup Winners Cup glory in 1995. It is still not clear who will replace him.

He is the fourth Liga coach to be axed this season, following Abel Resino of Levante, Hector Cuper of Betis and Valencia’s Quique Sanchez Flores.

The fifth man to be sacked could well be Miguel Angel Lotina of Deportivo Coruna, whose team are second from bottom after crashing 4- 3 Sunday at Villarreal.
