Three Britons shot in bar

21 June 2004

MARBELLA – Three Britons were shot in a village bar, police said  Monday.

The men, all in their 50s, were shot in the village of San Pedro de Alcántara, near Marbella in Andalusia, southern Spain.

Two were shot in the legs while the third man was more seriously injured, but doctors said he was not in a life-threatening condition.

The two who were shot in the legs were later released from hospital.

Police would not release their full names but said one was aged 50 and the two others were 53.

Two other Britons had been arrested after the incident which happened at about 6.30pm Sunday.

Police said it appeared that a neighbourhood dispute had got out of hand.

But they were currently investigating what connections the three injured men had with the two Britons in custody.
