Mexican media giant Televisa has agreed to acquire 14.5 percent of Imagina, the main content and services provider for Spain’s media and entertainment industry, a statement said Wednesday.
Televisa said it would swap its 40.8 percent stake in La Sexta, a Spanish TV broadcaster, for 14.5 percent of Imagina, with no monetary exchange.
The deal would also grant Televisa — the largest media company in the Spanish-speaking world — transmission rights for sport events in certain territories and the right to name two directors of Imagina’s 12-member board.
Imagina sells the rights of the Spanish Soccer League worldwide and is involved in production, post production, technical and advisory services, operating in nine countries including Spain.
