ALICANTE – A British man was arrested in connection with alleged sex crimes against children in his own country, police said Wednesday.
British authorities want to extradite the 41-year-old who was detained in Alfaz del Pi in Alicante, south-eastern Spain.
The man was arrested on 17 April, but authorities did not disclose details until after he appeared in court Wednesday.
A judge has ordered that the suspect should be held in custody pending an extradition hearing with British authorities.
But Spanish police are also investigating the man for suspected crimes against children in this country.
Two other British people were also arrested in the same operation and are suspected of abusing children, police sources told EFE.
They have been detained in custody while the investigation continues.
