Spanish priest found dead in Cuba: ministry

MADRID – A Roman Catholic priest from Spain has been found dead in Cuba, and police there have launched an investigation, the Spanish foreign ministry said Sunday.

The death of Eduardo de la Fuente Serrano is "under police and judicial investigation in Cuba," a foreign ministry spokesman told AFP.

"The Spanish embassy in Havana is in contact with the family of the priest, who has asked for discretion."

He gave no further details, and it was not clear when the body was found.

Spanish news reports said the body was found near the capital Havana, where he had done humanitarian work for a number of years.
