Madrid – Spanish police on Saturday said they had arrested a kingpin in drugs trafficking and extortion, one of the most wanted criminals in Spain.
Juan Carlos Pena Enano, 43, the suspected leader of the so-called Miami gang of criminals, was picked up in the mountainous region of Navacerrada in northwest Spain.
Pena Enano, who lost his left leg in an assassination attempt, had been on the run since April 2005 when he went on trial on drugs charges after a police swoop seized cocaine.
He fled to Brazil but slipped back into Spain and had since been living in Navacerrada with his family.
