Six neo-Nazis arrested for ‘justifying genocide’

18 October 2005

BARCELONA — Spanish police have arrested six neo-Nazis who publish a racist magazine and charged them with seeking to excuse or justify genocide, authorities said Tuesday.

The arrests were made in and around Barcelona.

The six are writers and editors of “Intemperie” (The Elements), a magazine that since 1999 disseminates racist and anti-Semitic propaganda. They also belong to the European National State political party, a racist-fascist organisation.

The arrests culminate a year of investigations into the suspects’ activities, authorities said. Meanwhile, police have been hunting former Nazi death camp doctor Aribert Heim, 91, who is said to be hiding on the Costa Brava, near Barcelona.
