MADRID — Police arrested a sex abuser on Tuesday who used famous characters from the world of television, film and fashion to lure women.
The man, named only as L.G.M, contacted young people supposedly to work in companies which had some connection with the celebrities whose names he used.
After months of investigation, he was arrested with the help of the television company Golbomedia which produces popular shows on Spanish television including ‘Los Serrano’.
Police said the man may have been in contact with up to 50 women during their investigation.
Sources said it was thought he had spent at least three years exploiting vulnerable women using 16 different identities.
The case came to light after claims were first made by a television producer, fashion designers, film producers and photographers.
They all said the suspect was posing as them and inviting women to come for photographic shoots.
One woman said she was invited to a naked examination to see if she was suitable for a catwalk show.
She said she left the building after suspecting it was a trick.
Police finally traced the man through a series of email addresses and photographic evidence and he was arrested at work.
Three years earlier he had been arrested for trying to lure women into pornographic films, supposedly to be made with famous people.
He claimed to be an expert in pornographic films.
