Ronaldinho in injury setback

2 January 2008

MADRID –  Ronaldinho will miss Barcelona’s King’s Cup match this week with a calf injury, the club said Wednesday.

The Brazilian midfielder has tendonitis in the muscles of his left calf, an injury which could keep him out of action for up to a week.

Ronaldinho will definitely miss Wednesday’s King’s Cup match at home to third division Alcoyano, and possibly also Saturday’s league match away to midtable Mallorca.

Meanwhile, the rumours about Ronaldinho making a January move to Chelsea or AC Milan continue unabated in the Spanish media.

Ronaldinho lost his idol status amongst the Barca fans in 2007 due to his poor physical condition, his sloppy training habits – and to rumours about an unprofessional nightlife.

Barca’s other injury absentees against Alcoyano will be Gianluca Zambrotta, Thierry Henry, Oleguer Presas and Lionel Messi, who is still two weeks away from fitness.
