Police smash neo-Nazi gang

MADRID – Police arrested 14 members of a neo-Nazi gang across Spain Wednesday.

In the operation – codenamed Puñal, or dagger – gang members were arrested in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Guadalajara.

Police seized fire arms, knives, knuckledusters and Nazi propaganda documents and paraphernalia.

Before the arrests Wednesday, the gang members had been arrested for a total of  48 times for a number of race-hate crimes.

The group is part of the Spanish neo-Nazi organisation called Hammerskin-España, which is part of an international Nazi group called Hammerskin-Nation.

The organisation has groups in France, the United States, Germany and Italy.

Each faction operates on its own but with links to the main organisation.
