Parents of missing British tot appear on Spanish TV

1 June 2007

MADRID – The parents of abducted Madeleine McCann were in Spain to keep up the publicity campaign to find their missing daughter.

Gerry and Kate McCann, from Leics, UK, are due to meet UK ambassador Denise Holt and Spain’s Interior Minister Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba.

Four-year-old Madeleine vanished during a family holiday in Portugal on 3 May.

The couple flew from Rome back to Portugal, where their two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie have been left in the care of Mr McCann’s sister Trish Cameron and her husband Sandy.

The couple are also to appear on a TV show focusing on missing children.

Spain has had its own ‘Madaleine’- seven-year-old Yeremi Vargas, who disappeared in the Canary Islands two months ago.

The McCanns, both 38, want to raise the issue of child abduction generally as well as appeal for information about their daughter.

The couple also plan to visit Holland, Morocco and Germany to raise awareness of Madeleine’s disappearance.

This week the family released the last video clips taken of their daughter before her abduction.

The couple set up the website, www.findmadeleine.com to help trace any clues.

POlice in Portugal were reported to be using clairvoyants as part of the investigation.
