Officer hurt as station attacked with petrol bombs

BARCELONA – A police officer was injured when three molotov cocktails were thrown at a police station in Barcelona early Monday.

The makeshift petrol bombs were thrown at the police station in the area of Sants-Montjuic, a predominantly working class area of the city, at about 0.45am

The officer was injured when he tried to put out the petrol bomb.

He suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital.

The blaze was put out quickly by firefighters.

The attack happened the same day Spaniards were celebrating Police Day on 3 October.
 
No arrests have so far been made.
