No malignancy found in Spanish king’s lung: doctor

Published on 08/05/2010

A growth removed Saturday from the lung of Spain's King Juan Carlos I showed no sign of malignancy, one of his medical team said after the operation.

Doctor Laureano Molins told a press conference that the 72-year-old king had woken from the operation and was “very well”.

Initial analysis of the nodule removed showed there was “no malignant cell” of a cancerous nature, he said, adding that the king should need no post-operative treatment.
