Neapolitan Godfather arrested in Barcelona

BARCELONA-The presumed head of the Neapolitan Mafia,wanted by Italian justice to serve a 24-year-old jail term for drug trafficking, has been arrested in Barcelona, Spanish police said.

A police statement said Italian police agents travelled to this city in north-east Spain to take part in the operation after noticing that the suspect, identified only as 49-year-old Humberto A., had made several phone calls from Barcelona to relatives in Italy.

After locating the suspect’s home, police mounted a surveillance operation that led to his arrest.

The alleged mobster was taken to a court in Madrid pending his extradition to Italy, the statement said without elaborating.
