The military took over Spanish air traffic Friday after civilian controllers called in sick en masse in a dispute over working hours, Interior Minister Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba said.
Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero had ordered the defence ministry to take over air traffic across “all national territory” until civilian controllers return to normal work, he said after a crisis meeting.
