SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE – A 40-year-old man died Thursday from injuries sustained in an explosion at his home in the Canary Islands.

The explosion took place at the house in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on the island of Tenerife Thursday morning.

A small fire broke out in the house after the blast.
 
An investigation has been launched but the cause of the blast has not been established.

The man who was fatally injured has not been identified.

Medics said there was nothing they could do to save the victims life as his injuries were so severe.
