Man cleared of three rapes in penis size case

13 April 2007

JAEN – A man was cleared on Friday of three rapes during a trial in which his penis was measured as part of a defence claim to show he did not attack the alleged victims.

However, Ojiffor A., 36, was cleared not because of the size of the man’s organ, but because the victims’ statements did not “meet the required legal standards”.

In a controversial case, the judges allowed the defence to measure the man’s penis as part of their claim that this would show he could not have raped the women.

His former girlfriend claimed she had been raped when she was 16 in 1998.

But the defence claimed the injuries caused to her did not correspond to the size of the man’s organ.

He was also accused of raping his former girlfriend’s sister and her friend.

Though the ex-girlfriend claimed she had been raped in 1998, she did not complain to police until 2002.

The accused, a Nigerian, faced 30 years in jail if he were convicted.

Afterwards, Ojiffor A. said: “Finally, justice has been done.”
