MADRID – King Juan Carlos and Spanish prime minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero were to meet for the second time this month Wednesday.

The meeting was brought forward as the King is to go to Athens for the Olympic Games Thursday.

Zapatero cut short his holiday in Minorca for the meeting with the King which will be held at the Palacio de Marivent in Madrid.

The meetings are largely formal though it is a chance for the prime minister to outline what the Socialist administration is planning to do in the coming months.

At an earlier meeting this month, the King hosted a dinner for Zapatero and his wife Sonsoles Espinosa.
