MADRID – Unions have described as "unconstitutional" an online job advert that stated its candidates must have "right-wing politics."
Grupo Paramax – which defines itself as an expanding international group of companies with business interests as diverse as leisure, first aid training, Spain-Asia imports and exports and child psychology – posted the advertisement for a personal assistant on recruitment sites Monster.es and Infojobs.com. The last requirement for applicants was: "Conservative ideology (pro-right-wing parties)."
Critical reactions online and phone calls from journalists prompted the company to delete the text that same afternoon.
According to Grupo Paramax lawyer, José Antonio Serra, company owner Carlos Junquera Pérez "believes someone may have played a trick on him. It’s a lame joke from an old friend." Junquera added that both he and his former secretary vote for the Socialist PSOE party.
