Global police work leads to 60 child porn arrests

17 December 2007

MADRID – Over 60 people were arrested and hundreds of computer files confiscated Sunday in five simultaneous operations against paedophilia across Spain.

Cooperation by members of the public and assistance from police forces in the United States, Germany and New Zealand were instrumental in the arrests, which took place in 13 different regions across Spain.

In late 2006 Madrid police were alerted by several citizens about a computer file circulating on the internet showing several minors being sexually abused. That lead resulted in the arrest of six people.

Meanwhile, assistance from international police helped arrest four members of an organized Russian ring operating in Spain that charged clients up to EUR 95 for access to child pornography
