French police hold suspected ETA chief: Spanish radio

Police in northwest France on Thursday arrested the suspected military chief of the armed Basque separatist group ETA, Alejandro Zobaran Arriola, Spanish national radio reported.

He was among four ETA suspects held in an operation by French police near the Belgian border, the radio said, quoting anti-terrorist sources.

Arriolo, alias Xarlas, is the “new military chief of ETA”, it said.
