Double world champion Fernando Alonso set the fastest time in the morning session at Jerez testing on Friday in his Ferrari, recording a best lap of 1min 18.877sec in a 22-lap stint.
British former champion Lewis Hamilton was in hot pursuit for McLaren with his 27 laps tielding a best effort of 1:19.673 just behind Toro Rosso’s Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne, who clocked 1:19.667.
After a fourth and final day of testing in southern Spain the teams will move to to Barcelona for further stints from February 21-24 and March 1-4.
