The rise in popularity of pet-friendly hotels

These hotels that allow you to travel and bring your pets with you not only offers your most pampered member of the family a bed to sleep in, but often will provide numerous extras such as food, water bowls, toys and treats.

One such example of this type of service is provided by the hotel chain Petit Palace, which has 22 hotels that allow pets inMadrid as well as others in different parts of the country including Bilbao, Seville and Valencia. In total, there are 31 Petit Palace establishments in Spain.

In 2014 the company removed the limitations set on the size and type of pet allowed in the hotel, and since then have given permission for dogs of all sizes and lengths of fur to stay, as well as cats and other types of animal people tend to have as pets. The norm is not to accept dogs that weigh more than 7 kg.

The list of pet-friendly hotels in this country is fairly short, but it is actually growing, as hotel owners do realise that people’s pets are an integral part of the family and many would prefer to travel and take their pets with them.

Whereas before the number of establishments that accepted the four-legged type guest was limited to rural houses in the country, they are now extending to large cities and coastal areas.

For many hoteliers, clients that travel with their pets are very loyal, and they tend not to quibble about prices. They will return to the same hotel on numerous occasions and pay to have their pet with them, so it makes sense to ensure that this type of customer is happy.

Hotels that do allow pets as guests generally reserve a set number of their rooms for people travelling with animals, and won’t book clients without a furry friend into the same ones. This is to avoid any problems with hygiene or allergies.
