Spanish bar features in world’s top 50 list of best bars

Dry Martini, this year, appears at number 42 in the list, but is the only Spanish bar to feature in this prestigious ranking.

In previous years, Dry Martini, which is located in Barcelona’s Eixample district, has generally been situated within the top 25.

As well as being known for specializing in the cocktail that it has been named after, the bar is also considered the third best gin bar in the world.

Dry Martini opened its doors in 1978 only serving its namesake and now has sister bars in several cities worldwide including Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, Munich, London, Berlin, Singapore, Rio de Janeiro and Boston.

Owned by well-known cocktail guru Javier de las Muelas, Dry Martini in Barcelona has experienced somewhat of a renaissance of late, so much so that an equally stylish and exclusive restaurant has been added next door – The Speakeasy – and a training academy for up and coming bar and cocktail staff is located nearby.

For the fourth year in a row, London’s Artesan Bar located in the Langham Hotel has been named the best bar in the world, followed by the Dead Rabbit in New York and London’s Nightjar in third place.

A total of 32 of the best 50 bars are located in Europe, with 9 of them situated in the English capital, more than any other European country. A further 14 bars on the list are to be found in the United States of America, 5 are in Asia, 4 in Australasia, and 2 each in South America and the Middle East.

Dry Martini is located at Aribau, 162, Eixample, Barcelona, 08036.
