MADRID – The Spanish news agency EFE apologised Thursday about an error in a story about US Secretary of State Donald Rumsfeld.
The story, used by Expatica last Friday, claimed Rumsfeld believed Spain would be a terrorist target this summer.
His reported words sparked a diplomatic row between Madrid and Washington.
But EFE news agency admitted Thursday it had mis-translated his words.
In fact, in reference to terrorist attacks, Rumsfeld said: “We’ve seen it, as I say, in Spain and many other countries.”
Expatica wants to clarify this error admitted by EFE.
