CowParade in Madrid

Watch out, Madrid! Your city is being invaded by fibreglass sculptures of cows as of 16 January.

As part of the CowParade Madrid exhibition, herds of uniquely-painted cows will be placed all over the city – in train station, parks and streets. Painted by local artists, the exclusively-designed cows aim to feature capture local culture and other aspects of city life in Madrid.

The world’s largest public art exhibit aims to bring art into everyone’s day-to-day life, rather than confining it to behind doors in galleries.

The exhibit was first held in Zurich in 1998 and went on a world tour, hitting cities such as Chicago, New York, London and Paris.

Every city’s CowParade is different as they are designed to reflect the charm of its host city. CowParade Madrid sees creations by invited artists as well as winners of the capital’s "Paint a Cow!" competition.

CowParade Madrid will also see children’s activities such as “Adopt-a-Cow” and even a “Cow Hospital,” where injured are taken for quick repair.
