Briton stabbed to death

ALICANTE – A British man was stabbed to death in a fight, police sources said on Thursday.

The body of the 33-year-old Englishman, was found in his house in an ‘urbanization’ or housing development, in Orihuela, near Alicante, in southern Spain.

Police believe the man, who has not been named, was murdered in the early hours of Thursday.

Police said the victim was involved in a fight at 2am with another man which ended in the victim being stabbed to death in an estate where he lived called Residencial Villa San Jose, near the coast.

According to the police, the girlfriend of the victim called the police and the ambulance service.

The victim was certified dead at the scene. His body has been taken to a mortuary for an autopsy.

Police said they are not clear about what caused the argument or the identity of the killer.

The Guardia Civil has opened a murder investigation.
