Briton ‘cuts up woman then confesses’

ALICANTE – Police said Friday they had arrested a British man in connection with the murder of a British woman whose body was dismembered.
The woman, who lived in Calpe, near Alicante, in the south-east of Spain, had disappeared.
Police said the alleged killer was denounced by another British woman, who also lived in the area.
The victim had been missing for some time and was thought to have gone off in the company of a British man.
Police later arrested the suspect at his home in the town and he allegedly confessed to killing the woman and cutting up her body.
Detectives began an investigation to verify the confession which involved searching the home of the suspect which was sealed off.
Police discovered in the house some of the remains of the woman.
The suspect is to appear in front of a judge.
Police have not disclosed the identities of the victim or the suspect.
