Body found in hunt for missing holidaymaker

31 May 2006

BARCELONA — Police investigating the disappearance of a man on holiday in Spain have found a body.

Spanish and British authorities were liaising to determine whether the body is that of 39-year-old Kevin Hoare, the BBC reported.

Nobody has seen or heard from Hoare since friends left him at the Organics Club in the popular resort of Sitges near Barcelona on 11 May.

Production worker Mr Hoare, of West Sussex, failed to meet his brother at Gatwick Airport on 13 May and there has been no traffic on his mobile phone and no transactions from his bank accounts.

The body of a man was found in Sitges late on Tuesday night. There were no signs of violence.

A post-mortem should be completed on Wednesday.

A source at the British consul in Barcelona told Expatica it did not appear the case was suspicious.

British police said Hoare’s disappearance is totally out of character and that he had a good job, his own home, numerous friends and close family.
