A man stabbed dead one person and wounded six others before bystanders overpowered him in the Spanish city of Bilbao on Monday, an official in the town hall said.
The man stabbed the first person in a bar near Zalabide metro station in the northern city, the official, who asked not to be named, told AFP.
“Once he had stabbed this person, he went out of the bar and carried on arguing with other people and wounded them,” the official, who asked not to be named, told AFP.
“Then people stopped him and the municipal police detained him,” while several of the wounded were taken to hospital, said the official, adding that the reason for the attack was not known.
“There is one person dead and six injured.”
