Argentinian leader arrives in Madrid

MADRID – Argentinian President Néstor Kirchner arrived Tuesday on a four-day visit to Spain where he is to meet with Prime Minister José Maria Aznar for talks and dine with King Juan Carlos, Argentine diplomats said.

Later Tuesday, Kirchner is to take part in the presentation of a book on Spanish immigration to Argentina and in the evening will attend a gala banquet offered by the king at Zarzuela Palace, the royal residence.

On Wednesday, the Argentinian leader will officiate at the opening of the FITUR tourism trade fair in the Spanish capital and then meet with Aznar for talks on bilateral and international issues, according to the diplomats.

During his stay, Kirchner is also to meet with Spanish business leaders and Mariano Rajoy, who will lead the ruling Popular Party in general elections scheduled for 14 March.
