MADRID — Police arrested 126 people across Spain Thursday in an operation against the supply of illegal steroids used by athletes or bodybuilders.

Officers raided more than 100 gyms in 31 different Spanish provinces.

The police mounted the operation – codenamed Gamma – to smash a gang peddling illegal synthetic drugs, anabolic steroids and hormones. 

Arrests and raids were carried out in Madrid, Catalonia,Valencia, Andalusia, Murcia, Galicia, Cantabria, Asturias, Aragon, Castilla y León and Extremadura.

It was the second part of an on-going operation against a gang selling these drugs through the Internet mostly to gym-users and bodybuilders.

No details were given of the suspects arrested.
