Nine teachers who burned to death were among 16 fatalities Friday when a taxi and a truck collided in South Africa, local media reported.
The driver of the truck which had five passengers lost control and hit the minibus taxi with 15 passengers on Friday morning outside Zeerust in the North West province, the Sapa news agency reported.
Nine teachers in the taxi burned to death. The group were heading for a conference in Rustenburg.
South African roads are among the most dangerous in the world, with some 13,000 people killed every year — more than 35 a day.
